If for some reason you need to have access to a car why not consider renting one. It is certainly cheaper than owning one if you are just using it occasionally. Just pick up your car and return your car at your preferred location. I used a have a list of companies but I lost it in a recent harddisk crash. The one that I am most familiar with is the NTUC Income carsharing.
